Villa Alta, a shining jewel on the ancient Silk Road

Villa Alta, hall Immersed in the green hills of Rigoli, near the spa town of San Giuliano Terme and the popular resort town of Pisa, the elegant and imposing Villa Alta can be found in a wonderful panoramic position that enhances its beauty.

It is located along the legendary and ancient "Silk Road", along which, in the Renaissance and Baroque periods, the merchants of Pisa and Lucca could reach the European courts of the North with their refined and precious damask.

A complete renovation in 1996 has allowed us to bring to light and restore a significant part of the frescoes, thus returning them to the former glory they would have held in the eighteenth century.

In addition, information handed down through generations has it that its current position does not coincide with the original one, indicating that at some time it would have been transported stone by stone up the hill from the plain below.

Villa Alta is one of the beautiful eighteenth century Pisa villas, which were built at the behest of local families whom were notably important or of noble extraction. This fabulous property is characterized by its significant historical and architectural value: a real artistic treasure!

In Villa Alta you will find, in a way that is at once both carefully researched and typical of the period, an expression of the brightness of a beautiful simplicity, that is: a return to a life in nature, which, as seen through the eyes of the intellectual appears as rationally ordered, civilized, and refined. Eloquent in this respect are the names “Hall of Flowers", "Hall of Heaven " "Hall of Angels", "Hall of Music"!

This also explains the aspiration and the fashion, common to the aristocracy throughout Europe at that time, for a holiday in these special, idyllic places.

And so in the meantime, through an avenue of cypress, cedar and citrus trees - beautiful specimens of an age-old natural architecture - you will find this enchanting and fascinating spectacle unfolding before you in the form of Villa Alta … a dream come true!
